Overview

A successful project is a safe project. Continental believes in a safe and reliable work environment where our employees can work effectively and go home to their family and friends every day.

Continental boasts one of the best EMR ratings in the industry at a mere 0.57 and an OSHA recordable incident rate of 0.57. This superior safety rating proves our safety program works and that we take safety seriously.

Our successful safety program includes:

  • A full-time safety manager and staff who oversee safety processes and procedures
  • New-hire orientation classes comprised of videos, quizzes and hands-on training used in the field
  • A drug test and pre-job placement screening before hire
  • Weekly toolbox meetings conducted and documented by job foremen
  • Safety manuals provided to all job foremen for their jobsite
  • Mass safety meetings held quarterly at a minimum
  • Completed on-site safety sheets containing a checklist for lifts, two-minute minder, a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and safety meeting notes
  • A daily job site inspection of by safety manager and area foremen
  • Weekly safety reports distributed to area foremen for effective communication in the field
  • A company policy that states incidents are reported, findings are communicated immediately to all employees and corrective measures are implemented to avoid reoccurrences
  • Up-to-date safety manuals available to our clients upon request
  • An electronic MSDS program allowing "at your fingertips" availability for our clients and employees

Continental Safety Facts

  • All area foreman are 30-hour OSHA certified
  • 75 percent of our field employees are 10-hour OSHA certified
  • All fitters are members of the Road Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669
